Asda £1 a Day Shopping List

ASDA £1 shopping list

Updated shopping list August 2018 – £42.93 = £1.07pp per day

This £1 a day food challenge was inspired by the great idea of the Wonky vegetable box from Asda at only £3.50. They must have been very popular as I couldn’t get hold of one at all for weeks in different supermarkets around my local area. But rather than give up I decided to attempt the challenge anyway but paying the full price, so if you do manage to get hold of one, you can still follow this meal plan.

This challenge is a bit more Mediterranean in it’s recipes, Spanish paella to Greek Potato Yiahni, French Normandy Chicken to Italian mussel spaghetti, even Bombay potatoes make an appearance. The 10 days will feel like a culinary world cruise, but a lot cheaper at only £1 a day each for all your meals, including a delicious surprise ingredient cake.

As usual, although I have added most of the ingredients you’ll need, it doesn’t include a few stock cupboard items that you might need a pinch of, so read through the recipe first in case you have run out of anything. Nothing expensive though so don’t worry. Also tea, coffee and sugar are not included.

The list of extra stock cupboard ingredients to check on are, paprika, stock cubes, dried chill flakes, salt, pepper, fresh Parmesan, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric, dried oregano, bay leaves, Dijon mustard, pickled onions, poppy seeds, pine nuts, Worcestershire sauce, olives, vanilla extract, self-raising and plain flours and icing sugar.

Also I have a few fresh herbs that I grow on my patio, so these sometimes make an appearance, although as it’s the start of the season I haven’t got many yet. I would advise trying to grow a few in a window box, balcony, or wherever you can. I hate having to buy bay leaves and rosemary as these are both so easy to grow.
