Updated shopping list August 2018 – £52.07 = £13 a week each
This year I have noticed that my weekly shopping is getting more expensive, Whether this is because of bad harvests in Europe, Brexit or just inflation, I don’t know. So instead of trying to get down to the usual £1 a day. This time I’ve gone for £10 a week, to make it a bit more manageable for the average family.
There are lots of new recipes to try using the ingredients from the shopping list. As before, I have listed most of the ingredients you’ll need, it doesn’t include a few stock cupboard items that you might need a pinch of, so read through the recipe first in case you have run out of anything. Nothing expensive though so don’t worry, but you will use them again and again with my meal plans. Also tea, coffee and sugar are not included.
The list of extra stock cupboard ingredients to check on are, cooking oil, curry powder, tomato puree, paprika, cayenne pepper, stock cubes, dried chill flakes (optional), salt, pepper, ground coriander, ground cumin, bay leaves, vanilla extract, whole wheat flour (optional) corn flour and icing sugar.
Also I have a few fresh herbs that I grow on my patio like mint and thyme, so these sometimes make an appearance, although as it’s the start of the season I haven’t got many yet. I would advise trying to grow a few in a window box, balcony, or wherever you can. I hate having to buy bay leaves and rosemary as these are both so easy to grow.
